I am so excited! I am going to have a POP UP card class! The class will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 2pm at my home in Bellevue. The cost is $10 and seating is limited. August Stamp Club Projects

I thought I would take a minute or two to post the stamp club projects we made for August. It occurred to me that I haven't posted any in awhile.

I didn't have a lot of time to prepare for club this month because of all the classes I held, so I had to do some necessary case'ing! While I typed that the designs were 'inspired by', I think I probably should have put 'entirely copied from', LOL! The Apple Blossom card (top left) was inspired by Nance Leedy. The Vintage Ornament Stencil card (top right) was inspired by Ronda Camire. The little Garden Gala DSP Owl notebooks were inspired by Vicky Burdick. Thank you all for your time, talent and willingness to share!

September Stamp Club Schedule (Note new time for daytime club)

Our next Stamp Club meeting will be on Tuesday, September 14th at 11am (PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE SINCE MY CHILD IS NOW IN SCHOOL) for the daytime club
and Weds, September 15th at 6pm for the nighttime club. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend! If you are a member of the club, there is absolutely no charge to you to make the projects. If you are a non-member thinking of joining, I always give one FREE try-it-on-for-size class. You are welcome to come and make the projects with us at no charge. This will give you an idea of what we do and will let you decide if you want to join without having to commit beforehand. All I ask for is an RSVP at least two days ahead of time!

Those who have already taken the free class, but aren't sure they want to commit may attend, but you will be

charged a $10 materials fee each time. If you order the club minimum ($25), the fee will be waived. However, you will not be eligible for any of the great Hostess Benefits our club members enjoy unless you commit to join. Just one more reason to join our fun club!

My Stampin' UP Story & My Why...

As far back as I can recall I have always loved playing with paper! When I was a child, my father was a printer. I remember going to the basement and selecting different colored papers, folding them, drawing on them, gluing them together. While I can tell you I never really created anything terribly exciting, the process was always thrilling for me.

A couple of years ago, I took a card making class at a local craft store. I was instantly hooked! I had big plans of teaching people how to do this, but how? Take out ads in the paper? Well, I must have been living on another planet because I had never even heard of Stampin’ UP or its products until I started visiting different sites on the internet. I purchased some products and instantly fell in love! There’s a company that not only makes fabulous, high quality stamps, but makes coordinating paper and inks?! This was too good to be true!

I quickly signed on to be a hobby demo, but it soon hit me that I could make some money doing something I love! Now, mind you, I had never been to a workshop, stamp camp, nothing, so this would take some trial and error! It didn’t happen over night, but I now have 2 stamping clubs going and am holding classes outside of those clubs. I look forward to venturing into workshops and eventually recruiting. I’ve always said that if/when I go back to work outside of the home, it will be doing something I love. That’s exactly what I have done with Stampin’ UP!

Punch & Lunch Advanced Class August 9th

This class was held on August 7th, but I am offering another opportunity after the Beginner's Class on Monday, August 9th from 11am to 2pm. I was going out of town Thursday afternoon, when I suddenly remembered to check the mail. What do I see, but a gold envelope! I thought....hmmmm....I don't think I'm expecting any Stampin' UP products...what could it be? I open it up and I was so excited!! My good friend, Mary, sent me two of these adorable baked potato bags!! They are soooo cute! I felt so honored and excited, I just had to share them with you! Well, I was the recipient of the Sunshine Award today! This award goes to bloggers whose positivity and creativity inspires others in the blogging world. I didn't really do anything special to deserve it, honestly. I had a goofy idea that if the demonstrators on the Stampin' Connection website all decided to visit eachother's blogs and follow eachother, we'd all look wildly popular and people would be knocking down our doors to purchase SU products from us, LOL! I never anticipated it would take off like a shot! I've been updating the thread repeatedly and have been receiving a ton of e-mails! I'm so glad everyone likes the idea! Wedding Card for Ted & Carrie

I made this pretty wedding card for my niece and her new husband. They got married this past Saturday and my son, Tommy, was the ring bearer. He was such a good boy. It was a beautiful wedding, too. This is another card we made in club last week. While I will be the first to admit that I don't care for bold, bright colors, I absolutely LOVE this card!! I got the idea from a card that LeAnn Greff made. It used similar strips of paper, all lined up together at the bottom, but in pinks, purples, blues, I believe. Anyhow, I decided to use up my Bold Brights since they're retiring and started playing with the strips. Didn't take long to come up with this design. My clubbers just loved it, too. This would make such a great card for a 1 or 2 year old or even a music teacher! The keys are lifted up by dimensionals although it's hard to tell in the picture.

Upsy Daisy Glittered Dryer Sheet Card

I should have named this card "Last Chance" because so many of the items we used are on the last chance list!

A lot of the items are also on sale, so get them while you can! To make this card, you stamp your image, put it upside down in a Xyron machine to put the sticky on the FRONT of the image. Then lay your (used) dryer sheet on top and smooth down. Lastly, you sprinkle your Dazzling Diamonds on top! Gorgeous effect in real life! The pictures don't do it justice! An added bonus...your card smells fresh and clean, too! :)

This cute little box was a project we made in Stamp Club. We put a tiny little card in the envelope and put that in the box. I thought this would be a cute gift box for a necklace or perhaps some little chocolates as a little treat. The Bitty Box Die makes not only the box, but the envelope, too! Easy as pie!

We made this cute little wallet in club yesterday and everyone loved it. It was super easy and comes out so cool! I have to give credit to Chris Greten for her awesome video I found online. This is a great masculine card that Daddy will be happy to show off! It has a pocket for money and several little pockets for gift cards, etc... The faux alligator skin technique was really simple and looks great!

I got a link to Lena Nunn's site from my friend, Mary. I knew when I saw these that I had to make them! Aren't they super duper cute?! I changed it up a little bit because I wanted that little seam that comes up the back of the shoe. I also punched 4 holes instead of two for the laces and added little dots with my paper piercer like a little baby shoe has. I think these would be so cute at a baby shower, filled with candy, nuts or mints!

My son received a couple of train cars from his Aunt, Uncle and cousins for his birthday, so we thought we'd make up a train thank you note to keep with the theme! I got this idea from Beth Beard's blog. I just thought it was so cute, I had to make one! Everything was made with Stampin' UP punches except for the 'window' on the cab and the body of the cab! I decided to add some dimension, so I used Stampin' Dimensionals under the blue plate on the body, under the clouds and under the wheels! Looks pretty cool in real life!

Kid's Card Making Class at the Local Library

Here are some little cards and a bookmark I made for the local library. I'm trying to see if I can get some classes going there for children. I think that would be so much fun! I have 3 more cards I already submitted to them, but forgot to take pictures! If I get them back, I'll post them, too. They were an Elmo, a monster and a flower card all using punches and minimal stamping. Figured I'd make it easy for the kiddos. I got the idea for the bookmark from LeeAnn Greff, but changed it up a little bit. The kitty card idea came from Ellen Kemper.

Today at Noon, Stampin' UP released some big news! They are totally revamping their Color Collections! I, personally, am sooooo excited about this! There will still be 4 color families, but they're totally rearranged! There are some old IN colors coming back (can you say Baja Breeze!!!?) and some colors going out (mostly bold brights). There are also 5 brand NEW colors coming in! Kraft Ink has been renamed: Crumb Cake! I'm so happy about this new change and I hope you'll be excited as I am!

Springy Easter Card...

This card was case'd from a card LeeAnn Greff came up with. The little tulip petals are made using the bird's wing from the 2 Step Bird Punch! The stems are made with the leaf and stem from the same punch., but cut apart. The vase was made using the Ornament Punch, but I cut the pointed part off. These colors are a little off the map for me...a little bright, a little busy....but I decided I needed to step out of the box and try something different. Whaddya think?

Simple Stamping Project for my Open House on Saturday!

In case you didn't know, I'm having my first open house on Saturday! I'm really excited for it and am hoping it will go well. I'm making it so it's no pressure/no obligation. I hate going to things where you just sit there and feel awkward, so you end up ordering something you didn't want! My goal in this is, of course, to meet new people and get my name out there, but I have something more important in mind, too. I'm hoping that the people who say, "Oh, I could never do that. You're crafty...I'm not" will make a card with me and say, "Oh, my gosh! That was so much fun! And EASY!" I love the look of excitement on a person's face when they've created something with their own little hands! It's like a light bulb goes on above their head! BING! That's the most fun part!

Not being a natural sales person (hate it), I've decided whether or not I get business out of this, I just want everyone to have a good time and walk away saying they want to come to my next one. I'm going to have good food and drink, conversation, social interaction....just kind of like a party with friends...but with prizes, LOL! If you're in the area, please feel free to stop by. A poem for the stamping addict in all of us!

The Stamping Addict.....Author Unknown

She learned to stamp on Monday,

Her embossing was quite fine,

She forgot to thaw out dinner,

So we had to go out to dine.

She brayered backgrounds Tuesday,

She says they are a must,

They really are quite lovely,

But then she forgot to dust!

On Wednesday it was birthday cards,

She says the chalking’s fun,

Shading, blending & watercoloring,

But the laundry was not done.

Her card swap was on Thursday,

Using green, blue and red,

I guess she really was engrossed,

So she forgot to make our bed.

It was shaker cards on Friday,

Using techniques she just adores,

But she never seemed to notice,

That we had crumbs on all the floors!

I found a maid on Saturday,

My life is now complete,

My wife can stamp the hours away,

And the house will still be neat.

Well it is already Sunday

And my forehead’s feeling damp,

I cursed, I raved and I ranted

Photo cube....oh, my little photo cube!

Okay, so I've been seeing how cool everyone else's photos are on their blogs and thought....well, how do they do that?! I have since found out that they use a photo cube, which is basically a little cube of fabric with a frame with which you can use different colored backdrops. My house just never seems to have the right amount of light coming in to take good pictures, so I invested in one of these after I made some money at my indoor garage sale! It was the best $33 I ever spent! I am so happy with the outcome! If you look at the last couple of posts with a black background, you will see what I mean! I'm so excited! I guess you'll just have to hold me to really good photos from now on, lol! The only bad thing is that you have to set it up each time, which isn't difficult, but I think maybe I'll put it in the office (a nightmare room from h*ll for which my husband is responsible!) where no one can see it! That way, I can leave it up all the time! Here's my little cubie! Isn't it cute!?

It came with lights and a mini tri-pod with which to attach my camera. It's kind of nice because no matter how steady you believe your hands to be, you still have a little bit of a natural shake or pulse which can make your pix fuzzy. (especially when you're my age, lol!) So far, I've only used the black backdrop, but it's really neat because it looks like your card is floating in space! (Kinda like my brain!) It's not very often that I purchase something and am so delighted with every aspect, but this thing is great!

Every now and then, I like to make little gifts for the girls in my club. This month, they are going to receive a little book to hold their technique cards. They receive a new card every month highlighting the technique we learned. It also has a mini example of how it should look. These are really handy when you want to go back and recreate the technique later! We originally started out with a little ring, but I quickly saw that they were going to be beaten up easily. So I purchased some of these little books and dressed them up a little bit. I know...I know...I used a retired stamp set (Garden Greetings), but it's just one of my favorites and thought it would go well with the background of the notebook! Cute, huh?

Heart Treat Cups...more versatile than I thought!

hen I first purchased these heart treat cups, I thought....hmmmm....maybe that wasn't a wise investment to purchase something that can only be used for Valentine's Day. But the more I thought about it, you really could put anything in these. You could use them for a birthday, a wedding, someone you love, someone who has a broken heart, and of course, Valentine's Day! Here are a few examples I've made the last couple of days.

The first is not only for my son's preschool class, but also a little giftie for my club members. The back has a little tab and a hole to get your candy out without destroying the little card. I am so excited! My son's fifth birthday is on Monday and we are having a party for him tomorrow! All of his friends are coming! I know...I'm weird...a house full of 14 preschoolers is so much fun to me! He decided he wanted Spider Man for his theme, even though he never watches him on TV. Interesting. Anyway, as I was wrapping his present tonight I thought, hmmmmmm.....what kind of card can I make for him? And then it hit me...use some of the Spidey wrapping paper! Not my usual type of card, but I think he'll love it! You can't tell by the picture, but I put dimensionals under the "Amazing Spiderman" piece and then used those super thick pop dots to raise the Spidey image even higher. Looks cool in real life. So, if you ever want a matching card but don't want to pay $5 for it at the store, use the wrapping paper! This card literally cost me about 50 cents to make! Cool, huh? (Pardon the glare from the flash. We have the worst lighting in my house and I have a hard time getting enough light)

Our next Stamp Club meeting will be on Tuesday, April 6th at 3pm for the daytime club
and Weds, April 7th at 6pm for the nighttime club. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend! If you are a member of the club, there is absolutely no charge to you to make the projects. The Best Milk You'll Ever Eat! Huh!?!

This is the new Mini Milk Carton from Stampin' UP! Is it cute or what!? You just use the die with your Big Shot, glue it together, then decorate it the way you want! I've filled mine with pastel colored M & M's. We'll be making one of these in Stamp Club for our February meeting and I'll also be giving them to my son's preschool friends for Easter. These are so adorable in real life. They're only about 3 inches high and 1 1/2" wide on each side, so I can get away with putting less candy in them, LOL! I hope you'll try making one for yourself this Easter!

Senior Center Card Making Class

Razzle Dazzle A Go Go!!

Okay, so the title of this post is the name of a strip joint that used to be next door to my great Uncle Paulie's Motorcycle shop, LOL! But we're here today to talk about this super simple but elegant card! This card was CASE'd from AllenJeni (SCS name), which was actually a CASE from DawnOlchefske at dostamping.typepad.com. Thanks, ladies! :) I decided to make mine a little different, but the basic idea was theirs. This card literally takes 5 minutes or less to make and has a great oooooh and ahhhhhh factor!

I am LOVING this cute little Matchbox Die!

I was thrilled to be featured on the Blog Find Of The Day site for this project!

Well, how cute is this, I ask you!? This is another project we made in club and everyone just loved it! We took Hersheys Nuggets and wrapped them with a 1" x 3 1/4" piece of Sending Love DSP and tucked them inside a Matchbox we made! This is a great way to use up your extra scraps! I always keep any piece that is 1" x 2" or larger! I know I'll use them somewhere! In this case, we used quite a few little scraps of DSP and cardstock!

She has been very helpful in inspiring me to get this blog started and to light a fire under my stampy butt! :) Thanks for everything, Sherrill!

I also need to say thank you to Michele Mulder, the upline Goddess of the Rubber Chicken Stampers! Michele is very patient with me while I send e-mail after e-mail, asking numerous questions...only to forget a question and e-mail her again. Okay, so I finally took the plunge and created my own blog! HELLLLLOO 21st Century! It's me, Chanda Stehlik!
